Peter, You are wise to start thinking about making a resume. In truth, you should probably have already made one by now. BUT, that's alright - it's good you're getting started! Despite having no "job before," you can still use various experiences from your life to demonstrate the qualities that employers look for. Do you have any volunteering experience? Have you been involved with, or a leader of, any student organizations? Have you babysat anyone's kids? Any odd jobs? Any awards or honors earned in school or anything else? Play sports? Leader of the team? Try to demonstrate leadership, responsibility, ambition, curiosity, ability to work in a team, etc. If you get stuck - consider using an online resume writing service. I used one called The Resume Boss, and they gave me a great resume. Got me a job. :) (They also have a blog with some posts about "Do's and Dont's" of resume writing that you can look at. Could help ya out some more!) Good luck!!

Obviously you don't need a resume if you don't have any experience. Chances are without experience, the jobs you will be likely to be hired for don't require or expect resumes, just get an application from the location or their web site and fill it out and hand it in.

Jobs for people without experience most likely don't require a resume. Those kind of entry jobs have applications instead. But if you're still interested in making a resume, leave the work experience blank. At a young age, employers would really know you don't have much experience yet. Make up some work history at a small business. Put down your reason for leaving was company went out of business, which also solves the problem of them calling to check.

There is no such thing as a big tidy book with all the GAAP rules. I wish! GAAP rules are found in various sources such as the Accounting Research Bulletins, Accounting Principles Board of Opinions, FASB Statements of Financial Accounting Standards, FASB Staff Positions, FASB Statement Implementation Issues. If you are serious about preparing for the CPA Exam, the most expensive review course (as far as I know) to help you prepare is Becker. But don’t get it unless you have met the educational requirement to sit and have been approved by your state accounting board. Otherwise you are wasting money and time. If you just want to get an early sneak peek, then get something cheaper like Bisk, which is sold on Amazon. The local bookstore has Bisk but maybe not the latest version. There are four parts to the exam – Financial, Auditing, Regulation, and Business. You will need to get these four books. Each exam section is anywhere from 3 to 4.5 hours long.
