My car is taking kinda long to start?

My car is taking kinda long to start? Topic: Case study on marketing problem

Question: I have a 1998 q45 and i just replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter, and battery, the air filter is new, and new oil, newer tranny fluid... I have to crank the car for almost 5 seconds before it starts cold, but after it warms up and i shut it off, then back on, it starts perfect. The car has 171,000 miles, but runs strong, the motor seems mechanically sound and runs fine. The car sounds fine starting, it just takes like 5 seconds. It it my starter? Or should i even be that worried about it? thanks,

It doesn't sound to be any real serious problem, but it would be a good idea to check it out more fully before winter cold hits. It is much more difficult to work with once the weather turns bitter cold. You can try places like AutoZone, Advance Auto, O'Reilly, etc to run a quick, in car check on your starter. It it is beginning to draw a heavier load when starting, you might need a starter. Running a fuel pressure test is also a good test to check that you have the proper fuel pressure at the injectors. (Most cars around your vintage have multi-point injectors that use a higher pressure than do the older ones. I am assuming that you have the multi-point with injectors at each cylinder, and have also gotten the correct pressure pump.) A weak reading here would tend to indicate either a wrong pump, or a bad fuel line somewhere. Next would come a test on the injectors. All the tests I have mentioned are simple, and do not require the car to be 'shut down'. They can all be run by quick checks under the hood. If all of these show no problem, you could have a problem with your ECM, spark plugs, plug wires, coil, or the distributor. These things require a much more in-depth set of tests, or just replacement. Even a weak relay in todays electrical circuits in an automobile today can cause similar problems. Getting into the electrical wiring to find a frayed, shorted, or wire with broken strands can be an involved, time consuming chore that can also cause similar problems. I have specialized in all types of auto electrical problems for many years. With a lot of very expensive equipment, and even a Federal license as a 1st Class electronics technician, I have still have some long, and involved issues over the years. I doubt this is the case with your current problem, but they are always a possibility. If you do have to get into studying your vehicle wiring, I would suggest you go to your local library in the Business, Science, Technology Dept. and find the Mitchell Automotive Series manual that covers the wiring for your car. You can't check these out, but you can make copies of all you need. I quit buying books as they get very expensive to order the good ones like Mitchell ($75 ea, and up). I now just make copies. I can copy two book pages on one 11 X 17 paper for ten cents. For about a dollar, I can usually get all the diagrams I need. They are much, much better than ones in the Haynes, and Chilton manuals you get at stores. They even have books that cover everything for your car, including some of the best testing, and troubleshooting of any on the market today, including factory manuals. As I said, I doubt that you will need to go this far, but just in case ....... BTW, it isn't likely, but even such things as your valve timing can cause similar conditions. As a last resort you could check this as well. Good luck!

As long as the starter doesnt sound like it is dragging or slowly turning the engine over then dont worry about it. My opinion is I think you may have a tiny pin hole leak in the fuel line somwhere allowing the fuel to flow back to the tank and making for longer cold starts because the engine has no fuel and it takes longer to re-prime the fuel system.

As long as the starter doesnt sound like it is dragging or slowly turning the engine over then dont worry about it. My opinion is I think you may have a tiny pin hole leak in the fuel line somwhere allowing the fuel to flow back to the tank and making for longer cold starts because the engine has no fuel and it takes longer to re-prime the fuel system.

Do something romantic ( and use it as guilt) 3. only say she became good (have confidence me women like it, and it saves hours of pointless communicate) 4. make plans in stepped forward (stay reliable to what you choose for) 5. you will desire to understand how she acts while she starts off going on a lane you do no longer choose for replace the placement or only say i admire you (then she would be in a position to kiss you, takes the stress off of you) 6. purchase her something which will final good-success and stay faraway from her sister (her sis would desire to of stated something to her like she likes you or something)

It's probably a little different in each state - but I am in Georgia, and when I took it, there were 5 sections, Math (mostly basic operations, some algebra & geometry), Science (questions based on information given), Social Studies (questions based on information given), Reading (read selections and answer questions about them) and Writing (1 essay, on a topic that is assigned to you - they are looking for correct essay form and grammar. Not sure if spelling is a factor). My essay topic was "Many people collect things. If you were to collect something, what would it be and why?". I took the entire test in one day, each section is approximately an hour, with the exception of the writing portion I believe. The sections other than writing averaged between 50 - 75 questions each if memory serves. Your testing center probably offers GED Prep classes, often for free, I'd definitely look into those if I were you since you haven't seen most of the high school curriculum before. Congratulations on moving forward with your education! Regarding the answer below that talks about people being embarrassed or looked down upon for getting their GED - in my exp. nothing could be further from the truth. I am always given encouragement and praise for going back to get my GED - and in my case, I started college right afterward, and once you set foot in the door of a college, it doesn't matter (to an employer) how you got there - Diploma or GED.
