Sony: "We're head-to-head with MS" (Opinions, Y!A rant)?

Sony: "We're head-to-head with MS" (Opinions, Y!A rant)? Topic: Bls case scenarios
June 17, 2019 / By Maude
Question: PlayStation platform holder Sony is in bullish mood ahead of the upcoming launches of both PS3 Slim and PSPgo, believing that its two new machines have given it the footing it needs to square up to the challenge posed by Microsoft's Xbox 360. "We've competing very seriously, head-to-head, with Microsoft in Europe right now - and this gives us a major opportunity to do that more aggressively," House told MCV at Gamescom. "We have very high hopes for the new PS3 and think it will deliver a significant increase in our sales."
House stopped short of making any 'further bold predictions' saying "it's a little dangerous to make statements like that given the seasonality of our industry and the current climate", but admitted Sony is quietly confident about its offer in Q3 and Q4. http://www.mcvuk.com/news/35517/Sony-Wer... ---- What do you think, are they head to head now? Do you agree with Sony? Rant: What's up with Y!A (PlayStation section, at least)? Do you guys only trust Top Contributors (TC)? A simple best answer is extremely hard for those who don't have the orange badge. For instance, You have the same answer, same number of thumbs up as another answer from a TC. The only difference is that you answered first. But guess who gets it? The TC of course. And now the case is that most people don't even bother to choose a best answer... I'm not trying to be greedy and it barely matters, it's just virtual. But it just annoys me now. It's not like how it used to be. @ Superdork: First of all, a TC's answering speed isn't a problem. Like I said in this scenario, Someone answers first, same answer (or possibly even better than the TC's), same amount of thumbs, but the non TC doesn't get BA. I guess it's how this works now. I know they are the "most knowledgeable", but I do often see answers better than TC's. Really, people need to read all answers rather than just picking the first TC's answers. btw, Sorry for the walls of texts. I'm reading all of your answers, long as they are!

Dude Suzaku was a Top Contributor before. Before WE HAD THE BEST TOP CONTRIBUTORS, lp, superman, Alex, Big Boss, Agent 47. Man we had the GOTY awards. Sony looks like its going to sell this year. As long as they could keep Dragonball Raging Blast an exclusive.....(jk jk) But they have good exclusives. Uncharted 2 is a must. That game is beast, but you haven't played the beta so you wouldn't know yet. Its a good thing they have MW2 too. MW2+Slim+U2= SALES. MW2 is "G", damn that **** looks good. Dude I was watching the multiplayer beta and the **** was lagging on my computer. Was it because the graphics were way too good? Here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VFcllPz5O... Gran Turismo 5 is a must for me since it will be my first racing game for PS3. MAG is cool, but is there anything else really than the 256, unless they deliver something great I might skip it for GT5 and GoW3. Plus Lost Planet 2 and Battlefield Bad Company come out in Spring too. See thats an example. When games are crowded they kill sales. The only game people can get this year are MW2 AC2 U2 Ratchet and Clank, Halo ODST(oh I forgot that piece of ****). Hey and you should check out that Raging Blast information. Subscribe to WolfClawStudios. There beast. So what are your predictions for GOTY? Me its going to be between Modern Warfare 2 and Uncharted 2 and Brutal Legend. Unless Assassins Creed 2 wont be much repititive. Did I forget something??(Halo:ODST??) Nah that game is no where close to GOTY material. Here's my list: (remember its a prediction) Fighter GOTY: Dragonball Raging Blast vs BlazBlue -TIE Action: Uncharted 2 Shooter: Modern Warfare 2 Role Playing Game: Demons Soul's vs Brutal Legend(yes BL is RPG) Adventure/Platformer: Ratchet and Clank Future: A Crack in Time Online GOTY: Modern Warfare 2 Well thats about it, so uh I'm out. Peace

I'll answer the second question first. Most people that pick a best answer usually goes with the first answer that makes the best sense. Most people don't bother reading every answer before choosing a best answer. TCs are usually the first one to answer a question because a lot of questions are repeated, and since they've answered so many, they can answer fast. It's almost second nature. TC in PS usually gets best answers on the PS section because they are knowledgeable about the PS3. Look up PS3 backward compatibility and see who usually gets it right. It's the TC. You'd be surprise how many different answers there are for such a simple subject. To answer your main question, I think Sony does have a fighting chance especially now that the slim is cheaper than the Elite. If people are just looking at storage space, the PS3 has 120, the Elite has 120. But the PS3 is 100 bucks cheaper. Another thing going for Sony is the price of HD TV is dropping fast. That means more homes are getting HD TVs, and with the HD TV, they'll want to get a Blu-ray player. The Slim and a Blu-ray player are about the same, so the Slim can do so much more. Most people likely go with the Slim than get a Blu-ray player. The other thing is the games. I don't think Sony has release that many exclusive Blockbuster games. In the future, there's FFXIV, God of War 3, MAG, The Agent, Heavy Rain, FF vs. XIII. Those game should help Sony sell more systems.

Sony has really taken a big leap forward in the video game industry the last few days. PS3 Slim, reduced price, the success of the PSN, cosmetic changes in the XMB, and a major upgrade in Playstation Home. Who knows what they'll have at the Tokyo Game Show in September? Maybe GT5 Release Date? Priced accordingly with the competition and didn't really take anything significant away from the Slim model. This should help boost PS3 sales in the US, the only market the PS3 really has problems. I've been lazy and out of a job since January so I've gained a lot of knowledge about Playstation and tend to be thorough in my answers. Probably the biggest reason my stats are where they are. If it makes you feel better, I start college on Monday so I may not be around as much.

Hell yea they are head to head, and i think Sony is kicking *** in this "Battle" too. ive seen many people saying that the PS3 slim is gonna blow the XBox away. ive seen them say that 360 fanboys are gonna love this. ive seen 360 fanboys say they love it. ive even seen the say that they would sell their 360 for the PS3 Slim . if Microsoft wants to survive in the Gaming business, they need more than a price cut. they need to speed up their entrance into the Handheld gaming business. Microsoft said they wont enter anytime soon, but they need to enter by April of next year. if they dont, Developers may stop developing for the 360, putting Microsoft in tighter and tighter spots until they are forced to announce the death of the xbox. that doesnt necessarily mean that they are done with gaming forever, but the xbox 360 will crash and burn if microsoft doesnt do anything about it. all they plan right now is a 100 dollar price cut, but that is not going to help them. Nintendo is close to Sony right now .. The Technology being patented for the Wii is just crazy and awesome. and Sony is taking Nintedo`s kinds of ideas into their hands, creating a motion sensing device similar to the Wii MotionPlus. they are also making a device that sense laughter, emotion, and how one reacts to something. Nintendo is making a device to measure heart rate and blood pressure supposedly to be used in Nintendo's first game based on relaxation. if sony and Nintendo come together, the will kill the Xbox once and for all. As for Apple .. They Still Arent a fully developed gaming business .. but Their Style of gaming is completly unique .. Touch Screen + Accelerometer is Pure Genius .. Bluetooth multiplayer is crazy and awesome ( what surprised me is that it worked..) But Apple Needs a whole lot more games before they can be said to be in the gaming business .. and they need accessories for gaming .. addons .. DLC ( some DLC is already available via the appstore and Cydia ).. Still Apple is doing pretty good .. not trying to shoot after everyone .. jus an innocent little sunflower .. but it wont be so innocent until it gets a machine gun like everyone else ..

Sony has had a high opinion of its self since this new generation kicked off. It should not have taken almost 3yr to finally get head to head with the 360. Not with better looking exclusives and powerful hardware, etc. etc. To hear one of their executives say that isnt in the least bit surprising to me. But then again this is Sony's Europe division, and that guy is known for saying ridiculous things... And I agree with you. If your answer is first then it should go to you. What hate are the ones who dont bother to pick an answer at all. Or the fact that retarded question like "should i kill myself or get a ps3" will generated hundereds of response, while a more intelligent question will fall upon deaf ears.

Blythe Originally Answered: 30 06 Cartridge Head stamp?
BN St. Louis Ordnance Plant, St. Louis, MO - See Note #1 Note #1 - Welcome to the world of deniability. In this case, millions of rounds of .30-'06 military ammo was produced in 1953 that was headstamped AN,BN or CN followed by 40 and a single digit and possesed a red laquer seal around the primer. Although there is no official description of this ammo (it is labelled 'unknown' in the declassified Small-Caliber Ammunition Identification Guide (U) Volume 1 (DST-1160G-514-81-Vol1) and other government sources) collectors speculate that the ammo was made by the arsenals listed and was for clandestine operations. Given the time period (Korea/Communism) and the weapons (M1 Garand, BAR, M1919) and the fact that the US did run some ops in the SE Asian quarter during the Cold War as well as equipping lots of 'friendlies' to work behind the lines........ 'Sterile ammo'. The words conjure up images of secret policeman investigating an assination and puzzling over the only evidence, an unidentifiable cartridge case. No doubt, sterile ammo may be used for that, although any police/intelligence unit worth the name is going to be able to figure out the origin of ammunition; its just a matter of time and resources, and thats the real point behind sterile ammo. Maybe the KGB will know where it came from, but some newspaper reporter or travelling congressman won't. Some of the more mundane uses for sterile ammo are: avoiding sanctions against shipping arms to a country, avoiding political policy that prevents helping insurgents (US aid to contras for example), concealing the amount of involvement in another country, etc.
