How does my writing sound (Fan fiction Naruto)? Topic: How to write a good fanfiction summary
July 16, 2019 / By Janice
Question: Awkward question I know. Anyways all I'd like to know is if my writing is enjoyable to read or is it disjointed and awkward to read? Does the premise sound interesting? The summary is as follows: AU. Following the old way of the Ninja, a team will rise to new heights by completing the mission by any means. Link: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/7070163/1/Alazarin

RedStar has an excellent answer. Fiction and non-fiction writing are two very different animals and until you can sort out which one you prefer to do and what your goals are, you're not ready to be a writer. I established eight years ago that my direction was in non-fiction writing and I have never strayed from it. Why? Because I know exactly where my strengths and weaknesses are. I am great with facts, figures, and information but terrible at creating stories. As such, I thrive in non-fiction and enjoy it by writing my blog. Lastly, focus on your grammar, spelling, and punctuation. There are many errors in your question alone and that does not help you in becoming a writer. I wish you luck.

You definitely want to make sure you understand your grammar and punctuation and spelling. Use a thesaurus but don't overuse adjectives. Make an outline but don't confine yourself to it. Move things around when you write. Make more paragraphs. Make less. I was told to make a five paragraph essay. I didn't pay attention to the number of paragraphs. I wrote what I needed to write. Try not to force yourself to write something. Just let it come to you... That's my best advice, I think. And when you say journal, do just mean a notebook to write in? You can get a nice journal at a book store or you can grab a normal notebook in the school section of the bookstore. Good luck with your writing! :)

Far too big a question to answer in one post. It would help if you had an idea whether you wanted to write fiction or non-fiction, because they require a rather different set of skills. If you don't even know whether you want to write novels or articles, then possibly you are not ready to become a writer.

I always tell my students: write your guts out! Don't spare anything. Go whole hog or go home. Explode convention. Be your inner beast!

I know it is hard to come out with something original but you can do it you think long and hard enough I've been in the same boat before wanting to write but not being able to think of anything and what I did was I just read like crazy any and every book I hadn't read that I could get my hands on I read. I did this till I got a new ideas for my writing you should try it I don't know how old you are or what you've already read but I would like to recommend a few series Percy Jackson and the Olympians Series it has five books and is based on greek mythology it is a simple read but great books Sookie Stackhouse Novels there are ten of these in the series it is based on vampires but not like twilight it is way better then that and more adult too If you are in high school or older then I you have to read the Dark Tower Series if you already haven't I won't even try to explain about this book it is so complicated but great it is the ultimate fantasy book puts Harry Potter and Twilight to shame if you ask me

You can't be a writer if you can't come up with your own ideas. Sorry, I know you don't want to hear that, but that is half the battle if you want to write fiction. My advice is to read as much as you can, espically the types of the books you like but also outside your genre. This will build your passion for writing, let you understand what is out there, what has been done, how the best have done it, and will also help you generate your own ideas. Trust me, I have always wanted to be a writer as well, but when I was younger I didn't really read - I just wanted to write. But as I got a little older, I started reading, and as I did I began to appreciate writing on a whole new level. You become open to the whole fabric of the literary world, and it really enhances your perspective on it all. You don't realize it now, but this is some of the best advice anyone has ever given you.
