If you got this promotion, please be advised that this is not a web-hosting plan. This is one year of domain registration with a single 'starter' webpage. The starter webpage is a 'fill-in-the-blanks' form that creates what is in effect an online business card. As well, be aware that the $1.99 is just a one-year charge. Your domain will autorenew for $34.95/year once the first year is up. If you're looking for a website, you'd be better off with Yahoo!'s Small Business Hosting Unlimited package. Available for as little as $10.95/m (if you sign up for a year in advance -- $11.95/m if you pay 3 months at a time, or $12.95 if you pay monthly), it includes *free* domain registration and renewal, unlimited webhosting space, unlimited bandwidth, several free website creation tools and the ability to 'do it yourself' with FTP if you have your own preferred tools to use. On top of that, you get 25/7/365 phone and email support for your account.

To brand yourself then I would suggest using your name. exp. www.yourname.com You can also use a unique name that describes your product or service. exp. www.chickensoupforthesoul.com If the domain name is already taken then you can add auxiliary words to it. exp. www.chickensoupforthesoultips.com but make sure the product name or service are first.. This will help with search engine optimization. (SEO) But to better your chances in search engine results then your domain name should be based on KEYWORDS that reflect what the type of people you are trying to attract to your site would more then likely type into a search engine search bar when looking for the information, product or service you are offering. . For example in your case ask yourself this question. What would high school students who are looking for guide lines to help them ace tests and survive high school type in a search bar when looking for information to help them? You can then use a keyword research tool to help you use the keywords that are being typed in the most on the internet. You can use a few different free tools available to help you research this information. I recommend the free version of 'wordtracker' which also has free training videos and also Google's Adword keyword tool. You can find both with the urls listed in my source box below. One example would be 'help with high school testing' this would be considered a long tail keyword or phrase. Enter that phrase into both keyword tools to check results. Try different phrases. You want to use the keywords with high results. Once you make your choice then you should check to see if that phrase or long tail keyword is available and register it at a approved domain registrar. I recommend namecheap and would stay away from Godaddy You can click on the namecheap url down below as well. Hopefully you will end up with a domain name that is highly searched and easily describes what service or product you are offering. I also recommend you use the top level domain .com Here is a final exp. www.helpwithhighschooltesting.com I came up with that off the top of my head so no research has been done on the amount of searches per month with that phrase. Then use that same keyword phrase on your site to increase your ranking in the search engines. . But that is another question in itself. Regardless your domain name will not make you or break you but you should use it strategically. Whatever you do make sure you RESEARCH before choosing to make sure people are already searching for the keywords you will use in your domain name. I also do not recommend using 'free hosting' or any hosting offered by a domain name registrar. Hosting should be left to company's who specialize in hosting. Also if you want to change your hosting provider in the future it will be easier then if your domain name is attached to your hosting service provider. For hosting I recommend HostGator

I recommend one of these: http://www.hosttell.com/ Powweb is on a 50% sale - $3.88/month ($46.56/year), and you get a free domain from them. Godaddy doesn't offer a free domain, but you can get one for $2.19 if you're buying hosting from them, plus they also have a 20% sale at the moment.

you need to add meta tags that give info to your site. the meta tags also have to be relevant to the site if not the search engines will penalize your site. also submit directly to search engines http://www.bing.com/webmaster/SubmitSitePage.aspx http://www.google.com/addurl/?continue=/addurl i did not add yahoo since bing does yahoo's now for the us search
