1) -3x + 7 < -29 the problem 2) -3x < -36 subtract 7 from both sides 3) x > 12 divide -3 from both sides. because it is negative, you must also change the < to > Note: for the most part, you solve it like a normal equation, but there are some tricky operations that change the inequality sign from < to > or vice versa these things won't change the sign-- •Add (or subtract) a number from both sides 4 + x > 5 (subtract 4 from both sides) x > 1 •Multiply (or divide) both sides by a positive number 1/2x < 8 (multiply both sides by 2) x < 16 •Simplify a side 2 + 4 > x (simplify) 6 > x these will-- •Multiply (or divide) both sides by a negative number -2y < -8 (divide both sides by -2) y > 4 •Swapping left and right hand sides 2y+7 < 12 (swap sides) 12 > 2y+7 Voila!! You have solved an inequality! I am going to ninth grade, and I had to do this for summer work for my courses. It was not as hard as I thought it would be, and once you learn it, it becomes like second nature to you. Just practice and you will be fine ;D P.s. check out this website if you need more help, it does a pretty good job

i assume that by "unit rate" u mean, how much does it cost for 1 of that item. u just divide the price by the number of items. so if 8 dishes costs \$6.00, then one dish costs 6/8 = 3/4 = \$0.75. another example: 20 cups cost \$2.00, then one cup costs \$2.00/20 = 1/10 = \$0.10 and so on... a unit is 1 \$6.00 for 8 dishes to find the price of 1 dish divide everything by 8 \$6.00/8=8/8 dishes 0.75=1 dish Carreen
-3x + 7 < -29 add -7 to both sides: -3x < -36 divide both sides by -3, which reverses the inequality: x > 12 that's it! ;)

Hi, If she sold 40% more than she ate, then she sold 140% of the amount she ate. Set up this proportion: % sold......% eaten ----------.=.------------- # sold.......# eaten 140%.......100% ----------.=.------------- 126..............x 140x = 126(100) 140x = 12600 x = 90 Grandma ate 90 oranges. <==ANSWER I hope that helps!! :-) Originally Answered: How do you solve this math question about percentage?
