Question: I know that I can recycle, but I don't know what else to do. I'm only 13, so I know I can't really make a difference, but I really want to! I don't want our planet to suffer like this. Its making me sad. So what else could I do besides recycle? Please give me your ideas. Thanks so much!

the best we can do as individuals is be more responsible ,in our own neck of the woods organise well publicized clean up parties ,talk on the radio have citizan or school meetings get the students involved to plant trees and listen to environmental awareness talks, if you do any cleaning up leave signs behind saying who cleaned, why and ask people not to start dumping rubbish again ,leave a hole or bins ,in case people come with trash , we have done a lot of comunity cleaning and if you dont leave alternatives or try to work on peoples guilt feelings (some people actually have those ,but not many) than your efforts are a waste of time. that is what many school kids do here in my town ,in Mexico POSITIVE ACTIONS print Tshirts with slogans ,hang posters all over the place (with recycled paper if possible) classify trash take out all the organic waste and make compost with it ,the worst you can do is throw it with the trash 70% of contamination is due to organic waste that is mixed in with the garbage . and it is just as bad in the sewer where it helps to breed rats and in the landfill it poisons the ground and it is the easiest to take care of o first of all we have to clasify trash at least keep the organic to one side ,like in a plasic bin with a lid if you got a few meters of ground ,you only need 1 or 2 square meters in a shallow hole ,in the shade ,that you can wet now and again ,where you dump everything that is organic ,from toilet paper, bones vegetable cuttings ,eggshells,,dead bodies ,excrement ,and cover regularly with leaves to keep humid and to hide any smell the worms will come and decompose the wastes truning it into beautifull blck soil for the garden of flower pots . if you are in a apartment ,if you have a balcony get a big plastic bin drill some holes in the side and lid , and add a few buckets of sand now and again to put over the trash ,you should realt stir or move the stuff at times to airate it and ensure that the decomposition is overall ,keep moist this rubbish does not get big very fast and the thing works for a long time with out getting full got a compost heap in the garden for 6 years ,have added tons of banana poles ,and palm leaves at times tree trunks ,the mountain goes up and down and never seems to get any bigger ,the stuff rots and becomes a very fine black compost of high density ------------------------------... global warming cannot be stopped but we can stop helping it becoming faster, and being friendlier to out Environment cannot be bad these are Al gores sites http://events.stepitup2007.org/............ http://www.stepitup2007.org/ http://events.stepitup2007.org/............ if you want to help the planet ,plant a tree every week ,if everyone on the planet did we we would be able to slowdown the destructive processes reduce carbon emisions, and they are already working on that by alternative forms of energy and regulations on carbon producing materials, aerosol cans, burning rubbish, industrial chimneys, powerplants etc. the capture of carbon and the production of water and assist the aquiferous manta. the world bank pays large subsidies for reforrestation to capture carbon and the best tree for this is the Pawlonia Waterharvesting projects ,such as millions of small dams.to redirect over ground waterflows from the rains into the ground to supply subteranian water supplies. the protection of existing forrests. stop building more highways, urban planning to include vegetation stop building cities encourage people to return to the land to conduct their business from there which now has become possible thanks to the internet. education to motivate people to auto sufficiency by building more home food gardens. education on environmental awareness education on family planning to curb over´population Agricultural education and improvements to follow the principals or sustainability and soil management. more environmental or land ,design to prevent bush fires, such as--fire breaks ,more dams.regulations and control for public behaviour alternative effeciant public transport to discourage the use of the internal conbustion engine recicling wastes, limit water use here are a 100 more ways http://www.eco-gaia.net/forum-pt/index.p...

I havn't done alot of research on the "Planet X" issue, I must admit, therefore I cannot give the precise answer that I would like to give. But I can give you some information possibly relating to some other things in the same general area... Lets talk about stars for a second... If you were to talk to any serious astronomer about stars, one of the things he could tell you would be that binary star systems, based on information we have analyzed and stars we've detected with our equipment, are COMPLETELY NORMAL. In other words, many times when you look into the night sky and you think you are looking at just one star, it is easily possible that you are actually looking at a binary system of stars... Thats right. Two stars gravitationally attracted to one another rotating around each other. Now that we understand that binary star systems are the norm in many areas, lets talk about our Sun for a second. First thing you need to understand is that the Sun is a star, and if our Sun is a star, why would it seem crazy to ponder the possibility of it being part of a binary system--essentially making our solar system a TWO STAR SYSTEM. Some scientists these days have actually tried detecting this possible second star in our solar system, but they have been entirely UN-successful thus far. The reason why they are so interested in this theoretical second star is because of periodical extinctions that happen on planet earth every so often. I don't have the exact number of years it takes for these periodical extinctions to occur right in front of me now, but the problem is that there seems to be a fairly precise trend. Every so often it seems that planet earth has a date with disaster. The reason why extinctions would occur at specific time frames is because this second star in our system would be entering a particular region near us that has alot of asteroids in it. Basically what the second star would do, called "Nemesis" or "Death Star", would gravitationally attract some of these asteroids and then once it gets to a specific point it would lose some of these asteroids somehow as it would slingshot them into a possible collision with planet earth. Finding and measuring this second star, at least according to the information in the public sector, is a little bit tricky. The problem is that our measurement and detection technology can only do so much, and it is easily possible that this second star could be in a specific position where it is....well.... undetectable with our equipment. And I would like to say here that this is according to some of the top US scientists. Other people can pretend that we have the god given ability to detect any possible serious threat in deep space, but the truth is that we cannot at this point. My personal problem with this issue is the name problem. I know that the term "Death Star" and "Nemesis" are basically referring to the theoretical second star in our solar system that could be responsible for wrecking havoc on planet earth at specific points in time; and this theory is being taking very seriously by our scientists and is being investigated right now. THAT is a fact. However, I'm not really sure about "Planet X", but as far as "Nibiru" goes, I think THAT name could possibly be another name for Nemesis, but I am not totally certain. I do know that, besides Nemesis possibly being a factor at some point down the road at whatever time, there is also an asteroid coming for earth right now that doesn't have anything to do with theories. It will be nearing the earth in the late 2020's, and is going to be so close to the earth that you will be able to see it with the naked eye at the correct location on the planet. They are saying that it has a reduced chance at hitting the earth, but there are some other troubling details of this particular asteroid that I'm not going to cover here because were focusing on Nibiru and Planet X. I really don't know if Nibiru, Planet X, Nemesis, and Death Star are all referring to the same body of mass in our solar system, which is essentially theorized as being a specific type of star. But one things for sure, some of our scientists are definetly making very serious attempts at investigating this theoretical second star, and if "Nibiru" and "Nemesis" are the same thing, the people claiming that Nibiru is completely falsified and doesn't exist are either so uneducated that they are retarded or they are lying straight through their front teeth, because that just wouldn't be the truth.

First thing you can do is realize that our planet does not suffer. It has no feelings at all. Do not know what you have been learning in sciense class. If you want to help society (I mean your fellow humans) compleate your education and do not depend on others to support you. Make as much money as possible so that you can give to charity. Most important do not let yourself become a pawn in the global warming hoax. Remember only God could change the temprature of Earth. Please join a growing movement to show that you can change public opinion. Encourage your parents to buy a car that gets very low gas mileage. Help your eyes as well as future societies by keeping as much light on in your house as your parents can afford. When your family travels do not all crowd into one car but use two cars. This also has the added benefit of safety. If we could get enough people to just do a few small acts we can bury the global warming myth forever. When this happens you can feel good about yourself knowing freed billions of dollars which will save the lives of thousands children worldwide per day. Good luck

Use products made from recycled material. Persuade others not to use too many hairspray products (aerosol cans) that damage the ozone layer. Although you may be too young to drive yourself, talk to others about utilizing public transportation, or even better, travel without using vehicles whenever possible. This not only helps the planet; it helps with our economy especially when we're stuck in a time where people are fighting each other for the sake of some precious oil fields.

You definitely can make a difference! Don't just recycle, but buy more products made from recycled materials. Ask your parents to switch to more energy efficient bulbs when one goes out. Turn down the thermostat in your house by just two degrees. Instead of having someone drive you to a friend's house down the road, walk. Encourage your parents to drive less. See about car pooling. There are so many ways you can help the planet...don't sell yourself short.

Well you can make a difference, start thinking like that and you will make a difference. Recycle everything..cereal boxes, the boxes your soap comes in and pet food containers..things you were never think of. You can also put the right light bulbs in your lamps. Plug out appliances when not in use, they use energy even at rest. You can start a com-post at home too, that way you make your own dirt with the discarded fruit and veggies that you would throw away anyway. Listen I have a slew of ideas but check out Sarah Snow's web site and check out everything you can do. She is great and gave me some great ideas. I'll tell ya one thing that we all can do to make a difference....."spread the word"!!!!!

Salmon Originally Answered: The planet kufu is very much like our planet. on kufu, how ever all activities are governed by scientific?
Better ask this over in Religion & Spirituality, not Astronomy. There are plenty of questions to which the scientific method does not supply any sort of definitive answer---for example "What will happen in the next 4 years if we elect so-and-so for President?", or even "Will this particular patient be better off if we do prostate surgery, or not?". These things are a matter of judgment, experience, courage, ideology, and guesswork. But where the scientific method can be used, it's better than any other epistemological methodology. It was one of the great failures of Communism that Communists imagined that there was a "scientific" solution for all human problems. Cleary this did not work for economics---market methods work much better at making decisions, than do any attempt at finding a "scientific" optimum. I would argue (without scientific proof) that the world would be a lot better off if we did not use superstition and religion to govern our lives.
