Ummmm this is singles and dating..... don't think the question fits - or is there something about your dating style you are trying to tell us?? If so, I'm not sure how many people are keen to be disemboweled at the end of a date. Any-hoo as for the thesis part, you'll find plenty of students have covered it before - even one of my students has done it as a research topic for me, but you could do it if your supervisor lets you - you would have to ask them.

Darnell Originally Answered: Who is jack the ripper and what is his identiry?
Jack the Ripper is a pseudonym given to an unidentified serial killer (or killers) active in the largely impoverished Whitechapel area and adjacent districts of London, England in the latter half of 1888. The legends surrounding the Ripper murders have become a combination of genuine historical research, conspiracy theory and folklore. The lack of a confirmed identity for the killer has allowed Ripperologists — the term used within the field for the authors, historians and amateur detectives who study the case — to accuse a wide variety of individuals of being the Ripper. Victims were women earning income as casual prostitutes. Typical Ripper murders were perpetrated in a public or semi-public place; the victim's throat was cut, after which the body was mutilated. Some believe that the victims were first strangled in order to silence them. The removal of internal organs from some victims has led to the proposal that the killer possessed anatomical or surgical knowledge or skill. Hope this helps.

pseudonymous murderer of at least seven women, all prostitutes, in or near the Whitechapel district of London's East End, from Aug. 7 to Nov. 10, 1888. One of the most famous unsolved mysteries of English crime, the case has retained its hold on the popular imagination. All but one of Jack the Ripper's victims were killed while soliciting customers on the street. In each instance the throat was cut, and usually the body was mutilated in a manner indicating that the murderer had considerable knowledge of human anatomy. On one occasion half of a human kidney, which may have been extracted from a murder victim, was mailed to the police. The authorities also received a series of taunting notes from a person calling himself Jack the Ripper and purporting to be the murderer. Strenuous and sometimes curious efforts were made to identify and to trap the killer, all to no avail. A great public uproar over the failure to arrest the murderer wasraised against the home secretary and the London police commissioner, who resigned soon afterward. Jack the Ripper has provided themes for numerous literary and dramatic works. Perhaps the most notable was a horror novel by Mrs. Belloc Lowndes, The Lodger (1913; motion-picture versions, 1926, 1932, and 1944). More than 100 books about the case of Jack the Ripper have been published, with many of them offering conjectures as to the true identity of the murderer.

The book you read was the one that claimed that James Maybrick was the Ripper. That theory has--like the royal conspiracy and the Patricia Cornwell theory--been thoroughly debunked. To this date, no-one has positively identified Jack the Ripper

Hi Jodi, given the ritual mutilation involved in the killings (the removal of the uterus each time) maybe "Jack" was a member of some black magic cult and the cult hierarchy decided to do away with him before his activities brought them to public notice. I don't know that there are any websites on this but it is a reasonable supposition. Another possibility: "Jack" was a "trusted" inmate in a Bedlam (original lunatic asylum in London) who was either killed or placed in a solitary cell when it was discovered what he'd been doing when he sneaked out at night. There is no more or less evidence to support these theories than any other but they are possible. Have fun Blessed be Karma Singh
