I can't see anything when I close my eyes.? Topic: How to write a good novel yahoo

Question: So, I was just looking through answers on Yahoo Answers on how to think of plots because I'm trying to write a very short novel (I'm 13 years old). Anyway, I came along this website: http://www.creativewritingprompts.com/ The first question was: Close your eyes briefly. Think of one object that's in the room and focus on it. Without opening your eyes, recall as much detail as you can about it. After 3 minutes or so, open your eyes and and write about that object without looking at it. Now, I knew I couldn't really visualize stuff in my head before but then all of a sudden I got really freaked out. Before when I thought about it, I just shook the thought off and didn't care about it, but that was before I wanted to be an author. I'm really good at writing and I can describe a picture when I'm looking at it but I can't picture it in my head. It's not like I can't recognize stuff or anything. I can't even imagine my own mother in my head when I see her every day but I recognize her. God, I'm so stupid, I want to be an author and I can't even imagine stuff in my head! So, anyway, whilst I was on the verge of having a panic attack I looked on Google to see if anyone was like me. I saw this website and had a read: http://dfan.org/visual.html I got the exact same answers so at least I'm not the only freak. I just want to know if you can't imagine stuff in your head either and what should I do if I want to be an author? Please help, thank you!

This should not be too much of a problem, as long as you have the imagination to describe things anyway. The author of that website says: "I'm quite good at drawing objects that are in front of me. If I'm drawing from my head, I can't see the object in my head and reproduce it; but if I have a good intellectual idea of the object, I can draw what I figure it'll look like, and then see if it fits." That's what you'll have to do-- write what you figure an object will look like, and see if it fits. If you have a broad range of adjectives at your disposal to describe a person, it shouldn't matter that you don't have an image of them in your mind. Try it now: create a character, and describe them. You don't have to picture them, just describe them in detail.

I once read that close set eyes tend to be an indicator of a judging sort or someone who has to squint a lot. Painters, architects, builders, management, etc. The following paper I'm linking here tells all about serial killers from a scientific view; gives great detail about the physiology, psychology, etc. of a serial killer http://www.scientificjournals.org/journals2009/articles/1441.pdf I'm still looking for that other thing for you. I have read before that phrenology, or ability to suss out a person's true nature by measuring their heads, facial features, etc., is generally not used so much since the 1920s-50s. FBI profilers might still use it a bit, but not the same way as before. Now they do it by studying statistics.

You gotta be more specific in your question. Serial killers are very uncommon when it comes to characteristics to the norm. If that were the case in what you are asking, then imagine how Andy Dick, and a few other celebs out there feel. Physical attributes does not contribute how a Serial killer is made. You may be right in some sense that in the animal kingdom, physical prowess is a sign of survival out there but for humans in general, is very complex. Our minds and brains are not in tuned to encode what makes us good or bad. Some of us may be good but some of us may be bad, it all depends. Think of it this way. Say a bully picks on someone on school. Chances are he will continue to do it as long as he feels is O.K and necessary and therefore, feels a great sense of satisfaction. You can call it being a wuss, or a coward but is instinct. Is the ability to pick on someone who is less superior than you or I. It can work both ways. In the animal kingdom, this applies everyday. Survival is a big aspect of it and there are steps necessary to make sure they confront them. Eating, mating, reproducing are all signs of survival and if you are the baddest of all the baddest, then you have met expectations. For humans, is very complex. Why do you think there's psychiatrists and psychologists to understand these sensitive issues? Here, here's an example. Say you live in a low, income thuggish neighborhood. And you see a guy that is bald, what's your first reaction? You might think he's a thug or gang banger and chances are he may check you or you may not assume nothing at all but if he has his face covering himself, then you may feel threaten most importantly. You basically are making a judgment call and trust me, that can be applied to society in general. So it is very difficult to pick out physical characteristics on a person who in return can in fact hurt other people cause if we did, then crime, drug abuse, poverty, etc would all be easy issues we could deal with accordingly and intelligently. And since money rules the world, that's another issue than can play with our interactions. Is very difficult to determine what or who can hurt others, physically or verbally. Abuse is a serious issue in this country and around the world. But is very difficult to understand its full meaning. In animals, the hierarchy is easy and reflective but in humans, "Nature vs Nurture" is a debate raging for many decades but all experts agree that both play a major role in determining how our persona reflects our behavior and actions, that I promise you. I'm studying psychology and trust me, is not easy as it looks.

I would say that they're isn't any reason to freak out. I also have a great deal of difficulty bringing an image up in my head, and I'm still able to accurately describe my character, and my scenes. I would say that as long as you are able to get your descriptions across, then I doesn't matter if you can, or can't picture something in your head. She wears TONS of eyeliner and mascara. When you do that and have light eyes (in her case, blue) the contrast makes the black from the make up stand out. Just line your top lid with liquid eyeliner for precision and then go over it with a pencil jet black liner for the heaviness. Go over your bottom lid with the pencil liner and go over the line a couple of times, making sure you get a lot of product. Also make sure to get your waterline. Then apply jet black mascara to top and bottom lashes. Do about three coats, and for best application do them back to back, not allowing the previous coat to dry.

Black eyeliner on upper and lower waterline. Black eyeliner on upper lashline and outer 1/3 of lower lashline. Smudge liner on lashlines with your finger or brush. Mascara.
