I'm no expert, but I think the answer is TRUE. I get annual reports in the mail or on line all the time, even when I really don't care.

It's quite difficult to point you in the direction without directly giving you the answer. - By expression it means a boolean expression, similar to which you would use in an if statement. - c will appear in that statement holding the character. - you will need an operator, that is true if-equal - you will need a literal character to represent the space character. - note that " " is not a literal character quotation marks are for strings. The exact answer to the question is less than 10 characters. Note "expression" should *Not* be a variable in a program: it is what the value of the expression when it is evaluated. Addition: jacovkss2 is right most of these answers don't actually answer your question. If that is the question you asked they are not looking for a program: they are looking for an expression. Odd comparisons with characters that aren't space definitely will not get you the marks.

'\0' is equivalent of null character that is string terminating character. if(c!=' ') expression = 1;// non zero values are considered to be true in C++; the if statement could also be replaced like below if space is equivalent to value 32 in decimal system if(c!=32) expression = true; As you understand "char can have values of single symbols/characters", Characters can take ASCII values from 0 to 255. One of these 256 value is space character(value 32).

'\0' denotes an end of string (string terminator). You can represent a blank using ' ' if (c != ' ') { cout << "C is not a space character" << endl; } I think your problem is you couldn't represent a blank character for comparison and I hope that is your problem and not your understanding of how conditionals work in a programming language.

"Given the char variable c , write an expression that is true if and only if the value of c is not the space character." Nested: if (c != '/0') { STATEMENT } Declarative: If (c != '/0') STATEMENT(x); Can be done without the need for a nested statement. This is the proper formatting. != is not equal to, in any language.
