Does a restraining order apply to online harassment as well? Does it cost money? Topic: Online problem solving for money

Question: A friend of mine is being harassed by an ex. It's done mostly online through e-mail, but there is a little bit of in person harassment as well. Does a restraining order apply to online harassment as well? Also, does it cost any money to get a restraining order? I'm in California if that makes a difference.

There is really no need or purpose for a retraining order against online harassment. A restraining order is to prevent personal, physical contact. By its very definition, online cannot BE personal, physical contact. Change email addresses or simply stop opening email from unknown persons (or the ex). Problem SOLVED, and no time was wasted by the courts, nor was the cost of legal advice needed.

The only condition that applies is that your brother broke the law. Had he made his ex apply to the court 's to remove the RO might have satisfied the judge. As of now he has a new felony against him, violation of a Court order. I Hope he did not loose his job, he will need to get a good lawyer.

A restraining order is issued by a court. It doesn't go away just because the person who asked for it wants it to go away. Someone needs to ask a judge to lift the restraining order.

This all may depend on whether the online messages include criminal threats. It would be best to talk with someone at a woman's crisis center or domestic violence hotline.

All the applications I've seen charge the same for paper or online. If you're online, then they'll ask you for a credit card or account # to collect your fee from before you get to the screen where it lets you actually submit everything you've put in. The cost involved is really the processing of all your information, and the university's going to have to deal with that regardless of whether you give it to them electronically or in a hard copy by mail. Besides, some of the peripheral things they could want can only be done by mail -- you'd just be expediting the submission of your basic application information online.

yes. For most schools you have to pay a application fee. some may charge you more if you submit a paper application. After you are admitted some will charge you a fee to apply for admission into a program. It is a rip off. Im just finished my AA degree and i am trying to transfer. I am applying to different schools/online or campus. fee range anywhere from 25 to 100.
