I would start it by stating: 'Due to unforeseen circumstances, I will not be taking my mission trip at this time.....' Don't need to give a reason or why. Most people understand,'unforeseen circumstances'.

YOU should have known the return was wrong when you signed it and you should have had the money for taxes put aside of course you owe the tax - you might be able to sue her for the penalty

A withdrawal from an IRA is subject to taxes and early withdrawal fees if not paid back with the calendar year. The IRA vendor should have sent a 1099 making notice of the withdrawal, the taxpayer is responsible. Unfortunately with the convoluted tax system we have in the nation does tend to be obtuse that even professional can over look important things. if she provided you the forms to sign and send in and you did not review prior to submission, you are the ultimate responsible, and ignorance is no excuse to use the legal system to sue someone.. Sorry to be so blunt, but don't abuse the legal system for making someone who maybe earned 100 to prep your taxes. Contact the IRS and arrange payments.. I had one year were I had a similar thing happen and they were more then willing to work with me on a back payment. If you want things to change, I'd recommend voting for politicians who reduce spending and someone who is willing to look at the FairTax that eliminates the current system with a national consumption tax.

IRS isn't unused to such happenings do not anticipate because of the fact it says so, which you definitely owe that quantity, as IRS makes assumptions not on your prefer. If Ex is being a discomfort, you bypass to courtroom and have her ORDERED attainable over the information; you ask your lawyer to place in writing her lawyer inquiring for the information, or you do an end-run, occurring to the source. touch the Day Care and ask for a duplicate of the 300 and sixty 5 days-end assertion. As a make sure, and since the only paying the expenditures, you have a precise to that. you may get a duplicate of the tax return EX filed by utilising calling/writing IRS and finding out to purchase it, or you are able to call them and request a TRANSCRIPT, which at the same time as not a photocopy has adequate informtion for a tax expert to renowned what the return looked like. If she filed without your authorization, without your signature, you are able to contest the return, report your guy or woman, yet another, or you are able to report an Amended return (1040X). recommend you notice a tax expert that may additionally assist you in unraveling your tax subject concerns

Be courteous and tell the truth. If you have an opportunity to tell them face to face that would be best. People, especially in churches, are truly forgiving.

Is it possible someone else filed an application to be made her payee? Don't the letters have the name and phone # of the person processing the payee application? If so you need to contact that person and find out what's going on with the 2nd letter which makes no sense to me. I suspect that the 2nd notice was a result of your ex's death meaning that someone needed to file a claim to be her payee - and the computers generated the notices in the wrong order. If she is under age 18 and you are her payee you need to open up a bank account as follows (Your Name) for (Her Name) OR (Your Name) on behalf of (Her Name). Her benefits should not be intermingled with anyone else's benefits. By setting the account up properly you are identifying the money in the account as hers but that you are acting in her behalf. When she is age 18 she will continue to receive benefits IF she is a full-time high school student and she will receive them directly. Since the account has already been set up when she is age 18 all she has to do is remove your payee designation from the account. You can look up how to set up a representative payee bank account - go to ssa.gov. By the way, you do know that you don't have to give her any of the benefits? As long as you use the money to support her e.g. paying the rent or mortgage payments, utilities and groceries and she has clothing, school supplies and medical care then the money is being used appropriately. The money does NOT have to be spent on her directly.
