What makes Christianity special? Topic: Different sections of writing a book
July 20, 2019 / By Dorean
Question: Why cannot we disregard a Christian god in the same way we disregard Zeus, Thor or Ra? The Bible makes as much sense as Harry Potter and can only really be used for some kind of symbolism. But fairytales like The Red Riding Hood or Bluebeard have just as much symbolical meaning ( Don't stray from the path.. don't judge by appearances etc)- isn't the Bible just the same? Why are the so many laws many countries throughout the world, based on a book of fairytales? Religion has always been around in different forms and throughout all of it's history there have been many prophets and lunatics who claimed to be wizards. What makes Jesus Christ special and stand above a mere crazy? He wasn't the first to die on a cross and not the last- and his claims ''to die for our sins'' is very questionable. More so it simply doesn't really make much sense- he died for the sins that he created for us, humans to teach us a lesson? The Bible is full of paradoxes and contradictions- why perceive it as holy? @Macademia- Yeah and the wolf swallowed the grandma and started imitating her behavior.I assume there's historical evidence for that aswell?

Because it is, and is NOT full of paradoxes and contradictions, Bible difficulties, or apparent Bible contradictions, exist. The opponents of Christianity often use them in their attempts to discredit Christianity. Sometimes these attacks undermine the faith of Christians who either don't understand the issues or don't have the resources to deal with them. Opponents of Christianity will cite what they consider a Bible contradiction or difficulty by comparing one verse to another (or more) that seems to disagree with the first. In doing this, several verses are often referenced as being contradictory or problematic. Therefore, to make this section of CARM easy to use, it is arranged by verse for easy lookup. Since many of the same "difficulties" deal with one verse in opposition to another or even several others, I have listed all the verses addressed in the same answer. This makes the initial list look larger than it really is. For example, how many animals did Noah bring into the ark? Genesis 6:19-20 says two while Gen. 7:2-3 mentions seven. Therefore, both verses are listed and both links point to the same answer. http://carm.org/introduction-bible-diffi... If we read the Bible at face value, without a preconceived bias for finding errors, we will find it to be a coherent, consistent, and relatively easy-to-understand book. Yes, there are difficult passages. Yes, there are verses that appear to contradict each other. We must remember that the Bible was written by approximately 40 different authors over a period of around 1500 years. Each writer wrote with a different style, from a different perspective, to a different audience, for a different purpose. We should expect some minor differences. However, a difference is not a contradiction. It is only an error if there is absolutely no conceivable way the verses or passages can be reconciled. Even if an answer is not available right now, that does not mean an answer does not exist. Many have found a supposed error in the Bible in relation to history or geography only to find out that the Bible is correct once further archaeological evidence is discovered. http://www.gotquestions.org/Bible-errors... The only "special" aspect of "Christianity" is how special it is in eyes of the "Christian". The Bible is worthless (my opinion). Lol! I think The Harry Potter Fantasies were significantly easier to comprehend, not to mention- a great deal more entertaining/ interesting!! I didn't always feel this way. But I came across something that drastically altered my outlook on God, religion & even the planet Earth as a whole. I was, I want to say relieved of all the heavy Do's & Don'ts of religion and gained a sense of Harmony & Peace. This all probably sounds rediculous but The (volumes) Book is called "CONVERSATIONS WITH GOD" BY NEALE DONALD WALSH. Go to YOUTUBE, search "Conversations W/ God Bk 1-Chptr 1" & so on..listen to at least the 1st 4 Audio Chptrs. If you're not interested, no harm done! It's life altering! It answers: what our purpose is, aliens, what dreams are, why we sleep, worldpeace, laws of attraction, religion, sex, even deja-vu!♥Try it, let me know what you think:)

Because the Pagan Gods are Gods of the Dead not Gods of the living. Hey if you don't believe that's your choice hope you enjoy your stay in Hell. The Bible is based on Spiritual truth not historical fact. Jesus Christ is God the Son in human form.

Jesus is the Son of God who left the glory of heaven to become a man. This shows that He loves us and wants us to see that when we give up the power, we can still be happy. Jesus suffered and died for each of us because if He did not, then we would suffer for eternity and He did not want that to happen. There is no other god who did this and rose from the dead in victory over death. All the other gods just wanted worship and did not care for a relationship with man. Jesus asks that we have faith and so we can receive His grace and humble ourselves so that we can fully learn and understand and be happy in Him. Man`s mind cannot comprehend the awesomeness of Jesus or His ways. Man can only see and think like a mere mortal. Satan can complicate facts and make them seem like paradoxes and fairy tales.

You have a lot of bad information in your question, but the number one issue about Christianity is that the historical evidence supports the conclusion that Jesus rose from the dead.

Dear Friend, What makes the Christian God unique is that: 1. He is the One true living God in which the Godhead consists of three Spiritual Persons: God the Father, God the Son Jesus Christ and God the Holy Spirit. 2. God's desire is to commune/fellowship with His creation, much like He did with Adam and Eve before the fall of man. But because of man's sin, that covenant relationship was broken. The penalty for breaking His law is death. God knew that man could not redeem (reconcile/restore) himself with a Holy God now being a sinful creature, so He clothed Himself as sinless Man, Jesus Christ and came to earth to pay the debt of sin Himself in order to offer man the opportunity to have that precious relationship with Him...restored. 3. Through Jesus, we can have a real spiritual relationship with God. And in doing so, God adopts us into His Family as Heirs to His throne. He gives us His Power, the Holy Spirit who then teaches us spiritual truth through His Word. Spirit to spirit. There is no other God in the universe that loves His creation so much that He was willing to die a horrible death for us sinners; to die in our place, be risen from the dead in order to demonstrate to us, that by living for Him...we can too. One day this world will be burned, purified back to its original condition and God's people will manage the "new" earth with glorified bodies, and Jesus will rule in Jerusalem. No more tears, no more sorrow. He is very real and desires for you to know Him, personally through His Word. There is no one who could possibly die in your place for your sins. Jesus did that for...you. Tender blessings,

If it is not special then ask yourself why it is the BIBLE that is banned in the military and in schools and work places. Makes one wonder what people are afraid of. You don't hear of any of the other religions writings being banned....only the Bible. Hmmmmm. Wonder why.

I like Christianity better because most Christians deep down know it is mostly bullshit. Most Muslims actually believe that ****. Honestly, the reason why you don't see a lot of Christian suicide bombers is because they want to believe in a heaven, but they have enough doubt that they aren't in a rush to get there.
