If a child/infant received little physical emotional nurturing in infancy/ todlerhood, what long term affects? Topic: Neglected child case study

Question: How might the person have difficulties in relationships as adult, what is this called, is the person irrepairably damaged?? Thank you, this is an answer I need really badly, you haveno idea how bad. Omg, I couldnever read a book that blamedmy parents. Truthfully, what if I was born defective, andthe reaction was biologically based?? Weeding iut the defective gene, and all that...? I triedto look up studies that said what specific things can be.done. I wonder if its possible to convince myself if a scenario where the neglect scene is " overwriten".. but I eel so badly damaged. Barely human anymore. Being able to hope I might reach being 75% normal doesn't sound so good. At my age especially.

The person may act the same way to their children as their parents did to them. They may have a hard time showing emotions and receiving them. But that is not in every case! Ultimately the way the person acts is up to them. For example, some of the best therapists received little physical emotional nurturing as a child and now help others with their feelings.

This chemical has not been around long enough for meaningful studies to exist on "long term effects." I guess when such studies are conducted, you could be part of that, as a case study.

Not irreparably damaged. In some situations, this person will be insecure and probably also hungering for affection--ongoing. With hard work over time, and probably counseling to guide, the person can grow out of it, say 75%.

it can have effects, or none at all. theres a good book called "its all your parents fault": that deals with issues like this. possibilities include: needs lots of attention in relationships, or has a hard time showing affection and emotion, hard time with rejection, etc... But being aware of these outcomes is a start to being healed.

What does the American Psychological Association say about abortion? APA TASK FORCE FINDS SINGLE ABORTION NOT A THREAT TO WOMEN'S MENTAL HEALTH There is no credible evidence that a single elective abortion of an unwanted pregnancy in and of itself causes mental health problems for adult women, according to a draft report released Tuesday by a task force of the American Psychological Association. http://www.apa.org/releases/abortion-rep... Some people cite “post-abortion syndrome” as a consequence of having an abortion, although there is no medical diagnosis with this name. So-called post-abortion syndrome has been likened to post-traumatic stress disorder: a lasting depression, often resulting in substance abuse and sometimes even suicide attempts. The APA task force found that research to date does not show a direct connection between a single elective abortion and such mental health issues. http://www.apa.org/pi/wpo/abortion-healt...
