What does "Substance" mean to you, in relation to personality? Topic: Title of a personal statement

Question: The title doesn't and cant even do the word justice. Everyone has a personality, but i think only achieve substance. I see it as, maybe like purness, and a rich understanding of ones self. By definition we could say character, morals, personality, natural thought flow, all consist of "substance" but everyone has these things, not all have substance. Ultimately, I would probably wrap it up as, knowing who you are - knowing what all seperately goes into making you, you (morals, character, outlook, respect, personal traits, ect.), the enrichment of these parts on an individual level (knowing exactly what you stand for), and then combining these all into one "You" , and understanding "I" deeply means- lastly, presentation, and an appropriate level of confidence. I don't think one could look at themselves and see pure "substance" , sure you can, to a degree, but you know all of your impurities, others don't, which is why id say presentation is of eminence importance, and difficulty. I think, "That guy is just pure substance" (ladies too), may just be the most complimentary statement to be made in reference to someone. Honestly dont know why I'm hung up on this word at the moment, hah sorry if I dragged it out and rambled but hey, that's why we love our Y!A. Let's hear what your take is on it. I just pulled that all right out on the spot. It doesn't have to even make sense really. Thanks, Stay Substantial - J BTW, Do you see compliments in regards to having "substance" as that entente of a gesture or just average.

It's a great compliment... someone having "substance" would mean that they seem "real", like a no-bullsh*t type of person. You actually see them for who they really are, not because of possession or position. They display the characteristics of someone who is honest, trustworthy, loyal, ...etc. i.e.- you can buy a gold watch, encrusted with diamonds, and all the extra polishing possible to make it extremely impressive and expensive, but if the inner workings aren't quality, then it's worthless (it is lacking in substance).

Ulick Originally Answered: What are the chances of becoming addicted to a substance after a single use?
The reason you can't find an authoritative source is because in order to be authoritative it must be measured, observed and recorded. The only evidence of single use addiction would be anecdotal stories related by addicts and therefore not publishable. The only real way to get statistics would be to get 1000 people, give them an addictive drug and record the result. Not very likely to happen.

After a single use of any substance, it would be kind of unlikely to become addicted. Depending on a person's predisposition to addiction, it would happen quicker but not after just one use. Neither physical addiction nor mental addiction could take a hold a of a person after a single use.

in my personal opinion the first use does not make a person addicted because there is not enough of it in you

If you already have a Master's, a drug and alcohol certification would be sufficient in most cases and then you pursue that to the the highest level. This process can be very time consuming as you will see in the link there is 6000 hours of experience involved to get certified by your state. This is, in my opinion, always the best way to go if you want to work in substance abuse, specifically. It gives you the proper tools to perform the work and is more attractive to employers of this field because you don't go get certified in D/A unless you want to do the work. Do some furthered research because every state is different. Things you want to search are phrases like "drug and alcohol certification north carolina" "CSAC north carolina" etc.
