Question: I went to make my first payment on the new card, but it won't let me. It says my account was restricted, and that I had to call. So I called them, answered all their questions regarding my previous address, credit history, etc, to verify who I am, yet they still say their is possible fraud and won't unlock my account. How can I get them to accept that Yes, it is me, that I did the balance transfer, and that I just want to make a payment before the due date so I don't have a missed payment on my credit history? I've offered to send copies of my Driver's License, Military ID, orders, and complete address history for the last 7 years. Should I just tell them to transfer the balance back to the old card, since I was only transfering to get a better interest rate?

Send the customer service line an email as soon as possible, that way you have written record of the date you tried to make payment. Once you've done that contact them via phone again and try to fix it. Explain to them that you will contact the authorities as well, because that is well within your rights. They either need to let you pay or they need to bring the authorities into the situation. It seems very odd that they'd let the transfer happen at all but then not let you pay any of the bill. Consider talking with a lawyer about it too, but do more research first to see if you can fix things. Don't send them all the information you've suggested. They need two forms of identification, that's all. More than that won't prove anything. Military ID might be a good option, but I don't know about the rules for using that any more. They used to allow it, but before I got out they started telling us we could get in trouble for using it as anything other than standard ID on base etc. You're better off using a state issued ID like a drivers license, just to be sure.

Instructions for disputing charges are usually on the back of your statement and typically have to be reported "in writing" (on paper) within 60 days of the time you first notice the charge on your statement. After their investigation either the disputed charges disappear for good, or they should advise you why not. Phone conversations are not good enough, so if that is all you did, they have likely forgotten about it. You did not provide any details about what the charges were for or if it resulted in shipment of something other than to your address. But if it was over a year ago, nothing else is likely to happen (unless you have outstanding charges).

They will never disclose the name to you. The person is a criminal and they do have a right to confidentiality no matter how unfair that seems. I don't understand why you'd have to pay for it; most credit cards have protection against fraud. I've never paid a contested charge in my life. It would've definitely been resolved by now. I'd fight that tooth and nail if I were you.

in case you stated the cardboard lost and stolen, why woud that be a derogatory mark on your credit checklist ?. Did they only checklist because of the fact the cardboard substitute into stolen or different remark?. in case you stated the cardboard lost and stolen, what would you decide on it to be on credit checklist?

Send a follow up letter indicating you did not authorized opening this credit card account. Ask for written confirmation that the account is closed.

You should not only send a letter to the bank complaining, you should also demand a letter from them confirming that the account was opened in error and without your authorization. This way, if the account later shows up on your credit report, you can have it taken off. If the bank does not react promptly, you should complain to the Comptroller of the Currency (if the bank is a national bank) or the Federal Reserve or your State's banking department. They should be able to help you get this resolved.
