Like you, I stayed in France for a few months on a student visa. I had no problems when I traveled to the U.K. from France. Your passport should show that you have the appropriate visa. My passport and visa were checked in both France and the U.K., and no one questioned what I was doing. You'll have your round trip train tickets, and you'll probably be asked to show those. That is all.

You have a multiple entry right. You have the right to three months of tourist visa free stay. You should be able to travel without problem to the UK and back. I believe the UK as well has a visa-free tourist stay for American citizens (you should check that). As a junk solution, you could also go to Gare du Nord and ask the French and UK customs at the entrance to the Eurostar what the rules are. Here is also the French customs site, with a telephone number. http://www.douane.gouv.fr/page.asp?id=26...
