KT Tunstall - Through the dark http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CZPEjgfc7Dg Real nice song, simple lyrics, the range doesn't go too high. ADELE - 'Make You Feel My Love' http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0put0_a--Ng A Bob Dylan song, so excellent in every way, Bb is the key Adele sings it in, Perfect I think for an alto, high notes aren't too high Creedence Clearwater Revival - Proud Mary http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7052IDTFuFQ Heard my friend who's an alto sing it in the Original key, I was really pleasantly surprised at how well it fit her voice. I think the lyrics to all these songs are very well written and are enjoyable to memorise. Good Luck

This depends a great deal on who is producing the musical and on who you are. In general, the answer is "no." Parts written for a soprano will not be adjusted in order to cast a different voicing in the show. If this is a big budget show with a live pit orchestra, it is conceivable that some modest adjustments might be made to raise or lower a song in the score. If you are Glenn Close and have just been cast to replace Patti Lupone, debuting Sunset Blvd. in L.A., then absolutely, score adjustments will be made. That said, the truth is, in all likelihood, you are a mezzo-soprano who sings the alto line of choral arrangements. There are relatively few true contraltos. Sopranos are also a minority. The majority of female voices fall under the classification "mezzo-soprano." Mezzos who sing the alto line either do so as a preference (are more comfortable or would rather sing primarily using chest resonance), have not strengthened their head voice, or have not learned to bridge smoothly between head and chest voice. Seek guidance on how you might best strengthen the top of your range. The more versatile your range, the more auditions you will nail, regardless of the designated vocal "classification." Hope this helps. Good luck! *per your "additional details," you will do absolutely no harm to sing in your "falsetto" (head voice) range. In fact, many sopranos sing in head voice almost exclusively (though their modal range will naturally extend higher than a contralto or mezzo soprano). It is impossible for me to demonstrate applicable exercises in this forum, but I am certain a choir director or voice instructor in your area would be happy to help you. There are also some pretty good tutorials on youtube.

The casting director will most likely look for sopranos to fill soprano parts unless there are too few people to fill the parts. If the were to transpose the song down for you, it would move it down for the rest of the chorus as well.
