Question: A couple of months ago, I bought a pack of 50 DVD-R's that were Kodak brand, & they were $13. I thought I had a deal. & every time I tried to write data to them, it turned out to be an error. I had to throw away @ least 5 of them. But when I use the Maxell brand of DVD-R's that I bought months ago, they work OK. I'm afraid that if I go back to Staples & tell them my problem, they might not accept it. Also, I can't find the receipt.

That happened to me when I purchased Memorex DVD-R's. What a mistake! 90% of the discs I burned ended up skipping more and more as it got further and further. It was too late to return it, too. I emailed Memorex' customer service and complained. Trust me, the companies know they have a shitty quality. I didn't know either, until I also bought Maxell and TDK brand discs. Memorex actually told me to mail them all the defective discs and they'd replace them. However, they could not replace the ones I had already thrown away (which was like 40 discs!) but I had bought two 100-packs so at least I got my money back for those. I also found that burning at a maximum speed of 8x (I always do 4x now) made all my data come out perfect.

It sounds to me like he was 'supposed' to refuse to speak to them, then die, leaving himself the culprit. he's outsmarted them by wanting to talk, he's a crook himslef and knows something is fishy, so he's playing along to knock them off-balance. Mitchell knows this and has immediately fielded this by cooling on Hewlett being the culprit, now talking about Hewlett as if he is a decent chap who wants to clear his name. .

With or without a receipt they have no right to sell you defective products. Go to store and complain. Ask for your money back, all of it, even for the ones you threw away. That's what happened to me with NX NextTech Double Layer DVD-R 8.5GB from Circuit City. When I googled that I found out people from all over the country were having problems with NX NextTech Double Layer DVD-R.
