Question: from internet news article: "Hollande worries that privileged children benefit from parental assistance on take-home assignments and that disadvantaged children do not. "An education program is, by definition, a societal program. Work should be done at school, rather than at home," Hollande said at La Sorbonne in Paris last week."

No, I don't think it is the job of any president to be setting those sorts of policies. I suspect the French socialist president's popularity is going to be sinking fast for a variety of reasons. People will be fleeing France with the new and improved tax rates. I think he is meshuga.

97% of small businesses make less than $250,000 so 97% of small businesses will get tax cuts. Republicans are ignoring this simple fact. I fully support Obama's idea.

"A president desirous approximately financial austerity might pick all the tax cuts to run out, or recommend offsets in spending." it is authentic only to the quantity that one isn't worried approximately the rest. The financial device continues to be in poor shape and unemployment is extremely intense. so because it extremely is $seven hundred Billion dispensed between how many human beings? The inhabitants of the rustic is 310 million. And the place is there a bigger multiplier result and a bigger velocity of funds, between the rich, or between the no longer so rich? Who spends new marginal revenues quicker the rich or the poor? The poor are maximum probably to spend each and every thing and to save no longer something. the rich are maximum probably to save. the middle type will probably save some and spend some. So giving which team the taxbreak is possibly to create greater call for in a call for starved financial device? in many situations, tax breaks do no longer stimulate the financial device lots; direct spending is a lot greater useful. Tax breaks for the poor do no longer help lots on account that they do no longer pay many taxes in the 1st place. the rich tend to save money they get from tax breaks. Tax breaks for the middle type help stimulate the financial device maximum.

Fairness is a subjective concept. Most Americans will consider that fair. But the rich whose taxes will rise won't consider it fair at all. They will just consider themselves to be an oppressed minority. .

Average annual small business revenue -- $5.03-million http://www.entrepreneur.com/sbe/glance/i... Small business constitutes 97.7% of all employers http://www.entrepreneur.com/sbe/glance/i... Increasing taxes on the above cited small businesses by stopping the tax-break program is going to increase unemployment. Doesn't take an economist to figure that out.

You really should seek some counseling. Maybe even an education. As I recall, 76%+ of the American population was totally and completely against ALL bailouts. Those who favored it were NOT the majority or even a close partiality of the Republican party. The only reason it was passed was because of the limp wristed politicians who control Congress and the Senate backed by former President who exercised too much bipartisanship. Bush wasn't representing the values of those who voted him into office. Neither were the Republican members of the House and Senate. If you want to argue and come across as being semi-intelligent, you have to stay away from the liberal biased media outlets. That would be asking too much from you I think.

Over 10 years? Just wait until O's package runs out of direct stimulus money in two years (The 300 billion that'll actually be used for stimulus). This is the ol' foot in the door routine. Also when you cut taxes -- as the economy grows, so does tax revenue. Lots of studies out there showing a big hit in tax-revenue for the first two years and then great increases beyond year 2. So hypothetically -- the package could pay for itself in the long run. Obama's on the other hand will not -- they'll do what all Democrats do -- levy the burden on the very people who create the jobs...ultimately crippling the very people who rely on those jobs - the lower/middle class. Not to mention threatening rises in inflation...further crippling the lower/middle class w/ less purchasing power. Here's what economists think of the stimulus (not Obama's sidemen): http://www.usnews.com/blogs/capital-commerce/2009/1/27/10-reasons-to-nix-the-stimulus-plan.html

Well, tax cuts leave the money with the people and Obama's plan takes more from us while we are struggling, so why is that a 'cost'? You make it sound like government has some inherent right to our money. Why can't they just stop spending so much? However, I don't know anything about the plan except what you just said. If it is more spending, I am against it. (Uh-oh. I find myself agreeing with Divine Shadow. I think I'd better take a break.)
