What makes yaoi especially appealing to teenage girls?

What makes yaoi especially appealing to teenage girls? Topic: How to write a crossover fanfiction story
July 21, 2019 / By Kelly
Question: I suppose I'm talking about yaoi in all contexts: anime, books, fanfictions, movies etc. I've encountered it most in anime and fanfictions because I know that in some of my favorite series' like Harry Potter, fans love to make outrageous pairings (I don't mean outrageous as in I think homosexuality is absurd, but outrageous as in not intended by the author). Lupin and Sirius, though I don't think they really belong together, are one example and I've seen some funny fanfictions and gag comics about them together online that are quite funny. I also like how Ouran High School Host Club sort of makes fun of how girls go... "moe"... for yaoi guys. The hilarity can also be seen in the over-the-top Renge and the girls at Ouran who go crazy for Kaoru and Hikaru's "twincest". But I have a bunch of friends who also think yaoi is really hot. I'm not saying this is so weird that I can't see it happening because obviously it is normal among a certain demographic of teenage girls. But I wonder why. If you do have a thing for yaoi (and trust me, i'd never judge you if you did) tell me about it and feel free to list your favorite pairings etc. Even though Ouran makes fun of them a bit, I'm not making fun of girls who like yaoi because I watch animes and read stuff that includes it too!

I love yaoi! Im about as obsessed as Renge is over Kyouya~ lol Its hard to explain, its just the fact we thing its so sexy! Most guys like lesbian girls, so I always ask "Why cant girls liek gay guys, then?" right? Well... I dont really like pairing up anime characters, I draw and write my own original stories with yaoi, and I dont have a favourite genre in Yaoi either, I like it all: Furry, shota, genderbending, bondage, naga/mermale, twincest/incest, crossover, oc/ooc, ect and actually i dont like very outrageous pairings ^^; I like pairings that make sense, or i PREFER them really because I do like Malfoy/Harry a little bit...

This book may not be as much action. But it is kinda a young adult romance. Everyday by David Levithan SUMMARY; Every day a different body. Every day a different life. Every day in love with the same girl. There’s never any warning about where it will be or who it will be. A has made peace with that, even established guidelines by which to live: Never get too attached. Avoid being noticed. Do not interfere. It’s all fine until the morning that A wakes up in the body of Justin and meets Justin’s girlfriend, Rhiannon. From that moment, the rules by which A has been living no longer apply. Because finally A has found someone he wants to be with—day in, day out, day after day

Read: Raised by Wolves. Very Very good book, The new one's just come out actually. But there's one before: Raised by Wolves, and then the new one is: Trial by Fire. If you like Werewolves, you will LOVE this. :)

Okay, so, this isn't a teen book, but you might like In The Night Garden by Catherynne M. Valente. It's a story-within-a-story type thing, with one person telling another person a story, and then telling a story that another person told to them, and so on, and the plot gets fairly complicated at times but I'm sure you could handle it. ;) I'd give it a 10 out of 10, and there are only a few books I would rate that highly. The author plays with lots of mythological elements, breaking them and then putting them back together in beautiful ways. The language can take some getting used to - the author never met a metaphor she didn't like, and at first this purposely overwrought style of writing can be irritating, but give it a chance and it grows on you. It's a fantasy book. No sex that I can remember. No vampires. Hope you enjoy. :)
