A literary piece is a text, whether in verse or prose, which has as its main goal giving pleasure to the reader and sometimes, together with pleasure-giving, instruction. A literary piece should have some characteristics which distinguishes it from other texts. in the case of a prose work, we have different types of literary texts: 1) Novels 2) short stories 3) Novellas. these categorization, although is not so precise, but the ones here mentioned have something in common which brings them together: 1) They have a Plot 2) They have a Theme 3) They have Characterization 4) They have a Conflict 5) They have a Resolution (not always) . we have sometimes literary essays which are of course different from other scientific essays in the language which they use. of course a literary work is, more or less, recognized by its literary language, through using different rhetorical devices and figures of speech; however, this is, more clearly, seen in poetry and versification. If you want to know more about the different types of poetry, I may be able to help you with that. But remember, the things which were mentioned above are very important. This is what I can say for now.

If you have to write an essay about one of those book with that quote i would go with The Crucible. I would say that the one thing he would give up would either be his pride, or his name. That is what he said in the book. That his name was him. That his name was everything about him. They could take his house and his life but not his name.
