Do you think this essay makes sense? Topic: Changing yourself essays

Question: I just asked for a title, but now I'm not sure if the essay makes any sense in the first place. My point is that history repeats itself although many studious agree that this science's reason to be is to learn from the past. I use the history of religion to prove my point, and as an example I take the Church of England and how the Catholic Church was unable to prevent the "loss" of England because it neglected little historic details or just plainly decided to ignore them or was overconfident in their influence, thus, was unable to sense the change of the situation and adapt to it accordingly to perdure. Next I make a short sketch of what's happening today, how the people is changing and the Churchs of today are clinging to the past again, resisting the change and thus losing the believers' faith and loyalty. What do you think?

Yes I think that's a very good idea to use in your essay. Another idea you may want to look at are failing battles in Russia. When Napoleon attempted to invade Russia many of his troops got sick and were injured from the cold, plus supplies ran low. The same the happened to Hitler in WWII. I don't know if you could add that to your essay, if you could i think it would make a nice addition.

Imagining an individual suffering from a terminal illness and going through agonizing pain is poignant. Grammatically, that is the correct way to say it...but I agree with the man who said you might want to change some words like he did because it sounds much better.

If you want to write the sentence exactly as you have it, this is the correct way: (changed goes to going) Imagining an individual suffering from a terminal illness and going through agonizing pain is poignant. There are much better ways to say this, though- you might want to try something like- "To imagine an individual suffering from a terminal illness and going through such agonizing pain can be extremely poignant." There are many ways to phrase this sentence, but some sound better than others. It really depends on who your audience is. Thanks and Good luck

You try to explain a lot of things but you dont give example maybe from the book of where and what page its from. Because all I read is you talking with no facts to prove the point. Or maybe its just me judging on high level of writing. But be warn every teacher want their student to write their way. The first I believe half sentence doesnt make sense, maybe you forgot comma or something. But all others seems fine... You're right, if this CUNY takes nothing other than GPA and SAT scores into consideration, then it is strange that the lower GPA/SAT student was accepted. At many other colleges, where they take EVERYTHING into account, this may have made more sense. Were there essays or personal statements for the application? If not, then affirmative action is all I can think of as well. Good luck with you!

it is affirmative action to colleges, minorities > white people/asians. i guess they think race overcomes the difference in grades. it sucks for asians because even though they are a minority, their rate of university attendance is really high, so they wont be considered as much of a minority as the others.
