Topic: Discussion of results

in one of my more recent discussions on yahoo questions (surrounding why Americans think the NHS is a bad idea, this is the link above) it was proposed that all members of europe lose their national identity when they choose to exist as part of europe ( so, for example, England exists as part of europe, but i wouldn't address myself as european, but rather English, this rule applies to France, Germany, etc.)
(this idea was proposed by "grizzly" (the bottom/last answer)
anyway, my question is, (to members of europe) do you see yourself as European? or more country specific? and to any Americans glancing at this post, do you address yourself as american, or a closer reference to state, e.g. Texan? and to those who address themselves as just European or just American, do you see this as evidence of a marxist society? where a countries identity is lost as the result of the bourgeoisie?
I just think this is an interesting question being proposed, but im not sure which section to place it, and im sorry for any spelling mistakes and grammatical errors, anyway, yes, thank you.
