Patriotism is strong support for your country. They did call the folks who fought the Revolutionary War patriots, because they did so out of love for the ideas and dreams that made America a great country.
America is one of the few countries created based on the principles of freedom. True, we're not perfect at it, but the system as was envisioned is fairly good.
Take something you love about the way America was made, and explain why you're glad to be here. Maybe look into your family history and use ideas from why your ancestors (or you if you're first-gen) came here. That's what the essay is looking for.
My best subject is history and i believe a patriot was used back in the 1800s before we got the declaration of independence. A patriot was against the british meaning they wanted to become independent and an example of a patriot is obviously George Washington. Ben franklin is another, so basically people who love this country. Like a nationalist. As you can see i am right and i was the first to answer.
Ok, first of all calm down. A true American patriot is a worker of the people, for the people, big and small, rich and poor. He isn't concerned with monitary personal gains, power, rather, he supports, defends, fights, for the rights of every American. He places his needs and wants behind the needs of the American people, to provide them with the tools necessary for them to prosper.
It goes beyond politics, its about his morals, ethics, beliefs in a better good for all, not just a few, or the rich, or just whites, for ALL. He does not recognize or allow others' agendas to personally color his ability to do his job. He is a believer in neutrality to make sure all needs are met. When he sees a wrong done to others, he fights, defends that person, aides them, despite the possibility he too may be harmed, looks beyond his physical safety, or public image to fight for his principles. Instead of drowning in a catfight, he chooses to fight with brains, not brawn, unless its the last resort. A believer in detent, and preserving diplomacy, he works going beyond the call of duty, to reach a suitable compromise instead of a crisis. Those who refuse to recognize this person, have been blinded and mislead by those with personal agendas, instead of seeking the truth, and better good. American patriots are the result of how we are raised to look outside of the box, forever seeking answers and demanding truth.
a colonist in the 1700's who rebeled against british rule after the british layed a bunch of taxes on them to pay for the previous french-indian war(7 yr war)...as opposed to the loyalists?
^Not necessarily a soldier, just someone who wanted to break away from the mother country and was tired of the taxes and other measures that Britain was enforcing. (Intolerable acts, taxation without representation, etc.)
