How to publish a book for free>? Topic: How to write a book and publish it yourself
June 17, 2019 / By Tracy
Question: I think that if your book is good, publishers're gonna buy and print for you therefore you don't have to pay anything. Is it true? My uncle's cousin published a book several months ago they asked him for 2000 dollars to design and he agreed. Is it a possible scam? So now I just wrote a book. What should I do if I want it to be published, for free?

How about to publish it online? I think publish/make book should not be a difficult work suitable for professional authors only. Everyone can have own story. But in reality, the publishers are very critical and only want to publish books they think can earn money for them. So it always difficult for young authors to get their books published, Fortunately, we live now in the age of Internet, and the edge technology allows you to upload/edit/publish your book online without downloading any additional software and all control ed by your self. You can buy ISBN for your book to make it more professional. You can allow your friends read your book online. And when the others buy a copy of your book, you can earn a piece of royalty. Overall, it's all by yourself and you don't need see any one else's eyes to allow you do so. Here is a website which you can do so: http://www.bookemon.com/ There are tons of books published every day on bookemon, come and make your own one.

Publisher publish books that they believe will sell and make money for them. Conventional publishers do not charge the authors any kind of fee. Publishers make the investment and assume all the risk, which is why it is so very difficult to get published through conventional means. You do not decide if you will be published. A publishing company makes this decision. Again, the publisher assumes all the risk and so holds all the cards. On the other side of things, authors who are desperate to be published will pay great sums of money to self-publishing outfits (a fancy version of Kinko's) and vanity publishing. Your uncle's cousin was taken in, yes. He was desperate to be published and allowed his desperation to blind him to the obvious, which is that he was scammed. If you wrote a book, you must make sure it is edited to perfection, as publishers no longer have the budgets for editing (and marketing). When your manuscript is perfect, you can shop around for an agent, which is a required of most publishers. Your public library likely has a copy of the Writer's Market at the reference desk. In it, you will find lists of publishers, what they publish, contact info, whether representation is required and other details. That's a good place to start. If you have questions, email me.

Step 1 - Finish your writing Step 2 - Find publishers, look up the Writer's Marketplace at your library to find them Step 3 - Submit a query letter, include a sample, ask if they would like to see more Step 4 - Submit 100 letters Step 5 - Get rejected alot, then keep sending those letters Step 6 - Receive a positive response then get published :) Agents are only there to help negotiate deals, like contracts with publishers, tour dates, movie rights. They don't help authors get published for the first time, you're on your own. If any agent claims to do so at a fee, it's a scam. The slush pile is a pile of submitted manuscripts publishers will keep if they need to publish something and they don't have anything better. It's a reserve, something to use just in case. You want to avoid the slush pile so make sure your letter stands out. Also, don't fall for all those self-publishing scams. You have to pay for everything, do all the work, and major bookstores don't carry self-published books. Just keep at it and you will be published. Good luck :)
